Always In The Freezer

My first piece of advice on hamburger is – always have some in the freezer!

I like to buy the bulk packages of ground beef (on sale, preferably), fry it up, drain the fat off of it, and then pack it in freezer bags in 2 cup portions. It’ll keep this way in the freezer for three to six months, but I find it never lasts that long.

I use it in all kinds of dishes – sprinkled on pizzas, in a rice and corn dish I invented (see next post), in soups, in casseroles…

Hamburger is so versatile and easy its hard for it not to go with whatever it is you want it to go with!
